Homework

We have already begin our reading program so your child will continue to bring home 2 books per week. Please send them back to school every day so that we can use our readers during class time as well as at home. Spelling will begin from Week 4. For those children reading from Level 1-7 the focus will continue to be on recognising and spelling the top 100 high frequency words. It is expected that you work on these in some way every day (although not all 100 every day). You could write these on whiteboards or chalk boards at home, orally spell or play games with flash cards. Our new spelling program Bringing Spelling Alive will see children given levelled spelling words each week on a Monday as well as some pertinent topic words or common errors from children’s writing.  We will start with lists of about 5 and will build to 10 over time. Please practice these words in some way every day and children will be tested again on Fridays. Any errors will be transferred to the next weeks list.
